Time to Go Mobile
Hot on the heels of new of Nier Replicant Remastered, Square Enix announced another Nier game coming out. This one is more of a mystery though. Nier Reincarnation is coming to mobile platforms, but not much else is known. With Nier Replicant, it is a remaster, so you kind of know what you are getting into. This new mobile game does not announce much of anything, other than it will be a free-to-play RPG on iOS and Android.
There is also the element of multiple realities within the universe the game takes place in. The Nier series is a spin-off of the Drakengard games. Nier Replicant comes after the fifth ending of Drakengard, while Nier Automata comes after the fourth ending, but still references the first Nier game and Drakengard. Basically, it is impossible to know where Reincarnation will take place in the grand scheme of things. However, as with many free-to-play mobile games based off of console and PC games, there will likely be microtransactions in through which you can access familiar characters like 2B or 9S, though nothing of the sort has been confirmed.
Square Enix has also released a short teaser for Reincarnation, filled with concept art and mysterious single words that supposedly have some meaning. You can check out the website here. Neir Reincarnation will be coming to iOS and Android.
