Minecraft Fans Will Have to Wait
The Minecraft Festival is one of many conventions and large public gatherings that has been shut down or postponed due to the coronavirus. While there is no serious outbreak where the event is supposed to take place, the organizers are going to err on the side of caution and wait until the threat levels are much lower. Video game conventions and gathers are not the only events to be affected by the coronavirus. It looks as though any large events of any kind are now at risk of being canceled in order to stop the spread of the new and deadly disease.
Mojang issued a statement about the issue at hand saying, “In recent weeks, the COVID-19 outbreak has led many organizers to cancel or postpone gatherings and events across the world, as a preventive measure to ensure the health and safety of their guests. The situation around Minecraft Festival, however, is a little different. September is still many months away, and we are not making any predictions about how long it will take to put the outbreak behind us.”
This is obviously a tough choice for any business or event organizers to make. The loss of revenue and legions of upset fans and customers is a bad look for any business. Many people are now worried that the outbreak is going to affect larger expos like E3 later on in the year. There is currently no cure for the coronavirus and it still seems to be spreading around the world. If no solution is found in time, it should not be much of a surprise if future events are canceled or companies refuse to attend.
If you are itching to play Minecraft you can find it on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices.
