Strange Partnership for Final Fantasy VII Remake DLC Event

Don’t Let It Slip Away

This is a strange one. Square Enix is doing some promotional events for Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is to be expected, but they are partnering with a candy maker called Ferrara Candy Company. Taking part in this event will give contestants an opportunity to win “Powerful in-game content”. To enter, you must purchase two of any combination of Crunch, Baby Ruth, or Butterfinger candy bars. Then scan the barcode of the purchase’s receipt and upload it to… somewhere. It’s kind of unclear. They will then be sent a code for some special Final Fantasy VII Remake DLC.

Receipts can only be uploaded once per day, and there are five different prizes to be won. If you want them all, you will have to make five different purchases and upload each of the receipts on a different day. Each receipt will unlock a different tier of in-game rewards in the following order: Midgar Bangle, Shinra Bangle, Corneo’s Armlet, Superstar Belt, and Mako Crystal. These items are also in limited supply. There are 100,000 codes for the Midgar Bangle, 50,000 each for the Shinra Bangle and Corneo’s Armlet, and 25,000 each for the Superstar Belt and Mako Crystal. There will also be a “Tifa Lockhart Dynamic Theme” which might just be the above image. There is no mention of whether or not that is a prize or something available for anyone. The event with Ferrara Candy Company runs from March 3rd until May 14th. Codes cannot be redeemed until Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out. This partnership is really weird since this is a US exclusive offer. You would think Square Enix would do something like this in Japan, but I guess chocolate and candy might be more alluring to America. Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out on April 10th, exclusively on PS4.

If you are an American fan, will you be taking part in this offer? Let us know in the comments below.
