Here We Go Again
Infinity Ward has been scrambling over the past few weeks to try and fix Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The massive DLC dump that took place in December 2019 came with a ton of content. But it also brought a lot of technical issues with it. To combat these glitches and other problems with the game brought about by the December DLC, Infinity Ward recently released new updates to fix those issues. For the most part, it seems as though the efforts to fix the bugs were successful. Unfortunately, the new patch has its own problems. Many players are finding that their stats have been reset after the most recent update.
The most recent update caused Modern Warfare to believe that some player’s files were corrupted. To inform the player of this problem it presented an unassuming prompt at the beginning of the game. A simple “yes” or “no”. If the player did not read the prompt properly and they clicked “yes” then their stats were reset with no hope of getting them back. As it stands, there is nothing that Infinity Ward can do about players’ stats being wiped.
While you might fault the players themselves for being so reckless or Infinity Ward for not properly warning their fans, the same problem still remains. This is obviously going to enrage a ton of Call of Duty fans. This is a really bad look for Infinity Ward as the past couple of months have been an absolute technical nightmare. Hopefully, the situation can get resolved soon, but it does not look very promising.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been a bit of a roller coaster since its launch. While it has done very well for itself financially, a lot of fans have gradually turned away from the series.
