Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Launches on the Nintendo Switch

You Can Now Play Gwent on the Go

In a surprise twist of events, CD Projekt Red has released Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales for the Nintendo Switch. This now means that the stand-alone game for Gwent is now available on PC and all major consoles. CD Projekt Red was adamant about not releasing Gwent for Nintendo only a few years ago, but now it is clear that they have had a change of heart.  This will be the first time that fans will be able to play the Wicher card game on the go rather than sitting at a desk or on a couch.

Gwent was first made famous in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It was meant just to serve as a series of fun sidequests and activities. However, many players were all admitting that they were largely ignoring the majority of the game just to go around and play Gwent. From there, it became quite clear that Gwent needed its own game.

Playing much similar to Hearthstone or Magic the Gathering, Gwent has two players make their own custom deck and face off one against one. Within Gwent, there are six different factions that you will be able to choose from. Each faction has a very unique playstyle and feel to them. This keeps the game fresh and interesting regardless of how many times you play it. In terms of card games, it is probably one of the best on the market.

There has been an explosion of Witcher content since the debut of the Netflix series in December 2019. Perhaps there is more to come after Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. It won’t be long before Nintendo player will be able to play with everyone else.
