The Previous Director for Doctor Who Has Been Brought on for the Second Season of The Witcher

What Should We Expect From Season 2?

There has been a ton of new information recently released about the second season of Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher. One of these big announcements is that the former director of the infamous TV show Doctor Who has been brought on to the production team. Edward Bazalgette has quite an extensive resume when it comes to television. He has even worked with Netflix previously on the Viking Age period piece called The Last Kingdom. This show was known for its gritty depiction of Dark Ages England and the Viking conquests of Northumbria. On paper, it looks like the addition of Bazalgette is the right move.

The second season of The Witcher will not be arriving anytime soon. We will have to wait another year until 2021. However, that is not necessarily a bad thing. While The Witcher has been widely loved by its fans, it has had its fair share of valid criticisms as well. The pacing and storytelling skill of the show does fall short at some points in the first season. It by no means ruins the show, but there are times when characters are poorly introduced or the plot feels rushed. Hopefully, this large amount of time Netflix has given the production team between seasons will result in a much more clear and concise story.

It is not totally clear how much influence Bazalgette is going to have on the show, or how many episodes he will personally direct. But it should be expected that he will have a large impact on the show. The Witcher has been a massive hit for Netflix and The Witcher franchise as a whole. It is safe to say that Netflix plans on keeping this show around for a long time.
