Looking Good for 15
The Nintendo Switch appears to continue being a console of 50% new/original games and 50% destination for old favourites. For every brand new release, there is a game from 2010 or something coming out. It seems the Switch is ringing in the New Year by reaching even farther back to 2005 for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD. Stranger’s Wrath was originally released only on Xbox. Despite high scores from reviewers, it did not sell well at all. It has been re-released a couple of times and was planned to be ported to the Wii U, but that was cancelled, and is now about to release on the Switch.
Today, a trailer was released for Nintendo Switch’s port of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD, boasting 60 FPS gameplay. For a 15 year old game, it looks like a good time. It was after all, rated as such. In this game, you play as Stranger, who goes around collecting bounties on criminals, dead or alive. Stranger’s Wrath is played in 3rd person for travelling sequences and 1st person for the combat. Stranger mainly uses a crossbow that can be upgraded and hold two different types of ammo at a time.
This is a second shot for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath and will hopefully be more successful. Developed and published by Oddworld Inhabitants, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD will be out on the Nintendo Switch on January 23rd. It is available now for pre-order.
