Whatever You Do, Don’t Lose the Mandate of HeavenÂ
Total War: Three Kingdoms is going to be receiving some new DLC in January 2020. Called the Mandate of Heaven this new expansion is going to be taking place before the main campaign. However, the interesting twist is that this new campaign will not be treated as a totally separate experience from the vanilla game. It will simply act as an early start date for a campaign. So if you want a play through to the last longer and have more story and weight behind it, it looks like that’s what Mandate of Heaven will offer.
The Mandate of Heaven will kick off just as the Han Dynasty is about to collapse. For all the history nerds out there, you will know that “losing the mandate of heaven” is and was a massive death blow to the Han Dynasty and other dynasties that would come after. Once a ruling power was deemed to have lost the mandate of heaven, all hell broke loose. This is no exception. Expect the early start date to be even more chaotic and messy than the vanilla game.
This new campaign is going to add six new factions including the Han Dynasty. The Han is going to probably be one of the most challenging factions to date and will most likely be a similar experience as playing the Western Roman Empire in Attila Total War. 40 new units will also be making their debut in the Mandate of Heaven.
There is no telling what else Creative Assembly will add in the future but they have done a very good job seamlessly adding new content into their game. The future is looking bright.
Players can expect to get their hands on this new DLC on January 16th, 2020.
