Spider-Man 2 Could Be Happening Sooner Than Anyone Expected
Last month it was announced that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 was coming out in 2022 and now it seems that Insomniac’s popular Spider-Man game could be getting a sequel even sooner. At least, that’s what one reliable inside source is saying.
There’s no doubt that Marvel’s Spider-Man has been a huge success for both Insomniac Games and Sony. After all, it had extremely positive reviews from the get-go, fans love the game and it’s sold like hot cakes with over 13 million copies purchased before September of this year. So it’s not exactly a surprise to hear about speculation of a release date for the sequel, right? According to Imran Khan, a former Game Informer news editor, Spider-Man 2 could be on its way sooner than anyone expected.
During the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast he had this to say about it, “I know too much about [Marvel’s Spider-Man 2], so I can’t speculate too much. I think a Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think.” And that’s not all either. Khan also mentions a possible release window set for Christmas of 2021.
Of course it’s always good to remember that while this is crazy exciting to hear, it’s still a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt. Even though it would make perfect sense for Insomniac to release it then, given the three year window since the release of the original Spider-Man title, it has not yet been confirmed by Insomniac. And of course up until now we haven’t heard anything from the developers to confirm that a sequel is even in the works.
