In The Valley of Gods Is On Hold While Its Devs Work on Half-Life: Alyx

Don’t Expect In The Valley of Gods to Come Out This Year

It’s been revealed recently that Valve developers from Firewatch studio Campo Santo are currently working with the rest of Valve on the next Half-Life game, Half-Life: Alyx. However, what does this mean for Campo Santo’s previously announced adventure game, In The Valley of Gods?

Well, according to the studio’s co-founder Jake Rodkin, the game’s development has stopped but, despite recent fears, hasn’t been cancelled.

In The Valley of Gods

Rodkin told Polygon recently that several former Campo Santo developers are working on Half-Life: Alyx in addition to “other projects at Valve” such as Steam and Dota Underlords.

“As you can imagine, our experience in the first-person adventure genre is pretty relevant,” Rodkin also said. “You hear a lot about how at Valve you can work on what you want. It turns out that’s true, and there’s a lot of work available. As we integrated ourselves into Valve it became clear there was a lot of valuable work to be done on Half-Life: Alyx.”

But Rodkin added that In The Valley of Gods “certainly feels like a project people can and may return to.”

“And when that happens, we’ll find an exciting way to let fans know,” he said.
