Marvel’s Avengers Getting a Prequel in Novel Form

Like A Comic Book Without Pictures

If you can’t possibly wait until next May to get your Square Enix Avengers fix, perhaps next March will be a bit more palatable? Marvel’s Avengers will be getting a prequel in novel form, called The Extinction Key, which will tie into the game.

Marvel's Avengers Skins prequel in novel form

Titan Books is releasing the novel, in conjunction with Square Enix and Eidos Montreal. The story follows the Avengers as they square off with The Zodiac, an evil organization I’m certain has come up in the comics at some point, probably. Aside from the fabulous five pictured above, the novel will feature Dr. Strange, Brother Voodoo, and SHIELD. No word yet on what the Extinction Key is, though I’m sure it’s properly nefarious.

Hopefully the mention of other characters such as these means we’ll be getting gobs of superheroes in the final game. These sorts of things might be tough to pull off in movies, but as far as games go, the more the merrier. Even if certain scenes are straight-up Easter egg hunts, it will be worth it. Marvel’s Avengers: The Extinction Key will be out on March 31st, 2020. Marvel’s Avengers will be out less than two months later, on May 19th, 2020, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
