The Next Episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake Has Begun Development

Step Into a Bigger World

As many of us know, the Final Fantasy VII game coming out next year is not going to be the entire remake of the 1997 game. Instead, it will cover everything within Midgar AKA the beginning of the game. Earlier today, we reported on news of newly released screenshots from the game. As expected, it looks really good, and now we are getting word that Square Enix is getting ready to take their next step in this Remake and the first step out of Midgar.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Commercial

Fans of the original game know just how big the world of Final Fantasy VII is. The Remake aims to take that world and make it living, breathing, fully explorable, and put it on a scale that really reflects a metropolis like Midgar. To do that with every location and every set piece would be more than just one game can offer. That is why the Remake is being divided up into episodes or parts. In a blog by the development team, the director Tetsuya Nomura said development on the next part is beginning. “We’ve already begun working on the next one as well, but I’m confident that playing through this title will expand your expectations just like the world that extends beyond Midgar.” You can read what each of the lead developers say in the link below.

Of course there is no release date for the next part, nor is there any detail about how much of the story it will include. The first part contains everything up until the party’s escape from Midgar. After that, the world really opens up, so will we get to Junon in the next game? We can only wait and see. Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out on March 3rd, 2020 on PS4.
