Cyberpunk For the PS5 and Scarlett Could Materialize
Cyberpunk 2077 is just around the corner. In only a couple of months, we will finally get our hands on what CD Projekt Red has been working on since they released the final Witcher game in 2015. The game has been teased for much longer actually. The first trailer was released in 2013. Regardless of all the speculation and waiting, Cyberpunk is looking like a great game. However, it does find itself in a strange crossroads within the video game industry. Cyberpunk 2077 is planning to launch in April 2020 for the PS4 and Xbox One. Keep in mind that the replacements for both consoles are set to drop around Christmas time the same year. So a lot of people are asking, will Cyberpunk make an appearance on the next generation? According to the developers, the answer is yes.
CD Projekt Red has been very open about its plans for future consoles. From what they have said, it looks like we will see Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 and Project Scarlett. But we just don’t know when. It is hard to judge when the devs will be ready with such a big task. If we do see a port of the new consoles, it will most likely be a year or so down the line.
A member of CD Projekt Red said this on a conference call, “Of course, we do have insights on what’s around the corner and what’s happening with PlayStation and Xbox. We’re watching it closely and one may probably assume that at some point we’re gonna do something with the next-gen. However, we cannot really be very specific about what that might be, when exactly that might be. I will only safely assume that it’s not gonna be around the launch timeframe of those consoles”
