The Crossover We All Wanted
Some games are very open about collaborating together. Fortnite, for instance, is well known for crossing over with other games and movies. Their most recent attempt at this is with the Batman franchise. Super Smash Bros is another series that seamlessly blends characters from different universes together. However, Overwatch is not one of these games. But this has not stopped one fan from making this a reality. Someone has done us all the service of putting Link into the Overwatch universe.
The fan-made trailer is very impressive. The quality animation and attention to detail is not something you see every day. The person behind this is obviously quite talented when it comes to things like this.
Link is unfortunately not going to be an Overwatch hero anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean we can’t pretend that he is. Blizzard and Nintendo have never made any noise about crossing over characters into the PVP series but it wouldn’t be a bad idea. The name recognition of Mario, Link, and other Nintendo characters wouldn’t be horrible. It’s not hard to imagine those types of character in Overwatch either. The reason so many fans of Nintendo are hopefull of this kind of crossover becoming a reality is because of Overwatching coming over the Nintendo Switch in October.
Overwatch has done very well for itself over the years. It has developed into one of the more prominent e-sports games and still boasts a high player count. Overwatch was the first game of its sort to really take off on console. Similar style games had been tried before but it never really worked. Certain fans have grown resentful of the direction that the game has taken over its lifespan, but that should be expected for just about any game.
