Much More Than Cricket
Cricket Through the Ages is a mobile game that is soon to arrive on the Apple Store. However, the game is probably not what you’re thinking. If you’re guessing that this game is going to be a cricket simulator just in the same way FIFA or NHL are “highly detailed” simulations of their respected sports than you’re mistaken. Cricket Through the Ages does feature Cricket. But not in the way you’d imagine.
Here is the bio of the game.
“Swing bats and throw balls through the intertwined histories of humankind and cricket in this one-button, physics-driven game. Over a thousand years ago the human race teetered on the edge of extinction. Our ancestors were helpless against the mighty behemoths of the land. And then, salvation…the game of cricket was invented! Go alone, or take a friend, on a journey through the rich and exquisitely accurate history of cricket in Cricket Through the Ages.”
From what the trailer shows, this new mobile game seems to be harkening back to the good old days of free flash games. This feels like a game you would have seen on a website like AddictingGames or Newgrounds. It’s, goofy, wacky, and over the top. Just like Cricket.
Thankfully, for North American audiences, it doesn’t look like you’ll need to actually know the rules for Cricket in order to have fun. It is safe to say that the sport has not really caught on here.
Mobile games, generally speaking, get a bad wrap within the gaming community. This is usually because that unpopular business practices like microtransaction and pay to win features are most prominent on mobile games. However, Cricket Through the Ages doesn’t look like it’s engaging in any suspicious behavior.
There is no official release date. But it’s coming soon. Get ready!
