Obviously, Japan Gets It First
Normally, when games get re-released with all the DLC and bonus content, they usually get call the Game of the Year Edition or Definitive Edition. The Persona games play by a different name game. Starting with Persona 3, the definitive editions carried different names. Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Golden, and now Persona 5 Royal. Persona 5 was released in 2016 in Japan and 2017 worldwide. Atlus first teased Royal in December of 2018 and then revealed it in April. Since then, fans have been wondering when they could get their hands on it. Atlus recently announced the Persona 5 Royal release date for both Japan and the rest of the world.
A couple of weeks ago, Atlus put out a trailer for Persona 5 Royal. It was entirely in Japanese, but for English speaking audiences, the YouTube channel Lettuce Sauce (which I believe is just water) graciously translated it, as they do with many Japanese videos. Still not sure what it is all about, but from what I understand player will be able to play as an additional character Kasumi Yoshizawa, it will include a new palace, another playable semester, and PS4 Pro support.
The trailer reveals that Persona 5 Royal will hit Japan on October 31st, 2019 and the rest of the world will get it in Spring 2020. While that is a broad timeline, it’s something. Persona 5 Royal will be available on PS4 and PS4 Pro.
