Kicking Nazi Ass With Superior Strategy
World War II is fertile ground for video games. The trouble is, most of them are first-person shooters. Killing Nazis in this fashion is liberating, but familiar. We’ve already done so much of that, you know? Thankfully, Warsaw brings a new avenue to the table: that of the Strategy RPG.
Warsaw chucks you headfirst into the Polish Uprising, complete with permadeath, powerful storytelling, and period-accurate costume design. All of your choices hold weight appropriate for a conflict of this nature. Lives are in the balance, after all. Losing those lives should be significant event, one that impacts overall morale. At least the tools of liberation are both numerous and well-crafted.
The skills and weapons used in combat are, like everything else, chosen with care. Every fighter’s moves can work in tandem with their comrades. That is, assuming you choose correctly. The combat itself is loaded with elements that need balancing, including flanking, range, cover, positioning, and ammunition. Warsaw brings new life to a familiar setting when its released on Steam on September 4th. For a quick look at what’s in store this fall, you can check out the trailer embedded below.
