The PS4 Has Reached 100 Million Units Sold

The PS4 Is One of the Best-Selling Consoles of All Time

The PS4 has managed to sell 100 million units, according to sales figures shown in a recent Sony financial document. The sales data from the document shows that during the first quarter of fiscal year 2019 (which runs from April to June), Sony sold 3.2 million PS4s.

This brings the lifetime total sales of the console to 100 million since it was reported in April that the console sold 96.8 million units.

“This makes PlayStation 4 the fastest home console to reach 100 million unit sell-in,” tweeted games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad. “Faster than both the PS2 and Wii which were just behind.”

“It took PS2 a total of five years and 9 months. PS4 was just 5 years and 7 months,” he added.

This milestone makes Sony’s latest console the fourth console that has managed to sell 100 million units. The Wii and PS1 have sold just over 100 million units which means that the PS4 could overtake them and become the second best-selling console of all time this year. The PS2 currently has the top spot with more than 155 million units sold.
