Getting Games on Stadia Easier Than it Seems

So Says Ubisoft CEO

One thing we havenโ€™t learned much about till now is Google Stadia. Beyond price plans and game lists, the nuts and bolts of the streaming service is still largely a mystery. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot is confident weโ€™re all overestimating the workload, however. Apparently getting games on Googleโ€™s service is a lot easier than weโ€™re all assuming.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

During a recent earnings call, Guillemot stated that โ€œThe extra cost to put to make sure the games work well on Stadia is not that highโ€ It seems that so long as you have a good relationship with Stadia, it wonโ€™t be difficult at all to get games onto the service. This makes sense coming from Ubisoft, as they already have a pretty good relationship with Google.

Fans will recall the time Assassinโ€™s Creed Odyssey was made available on an early version of the service known as Project Stream. This suggests that Ubisoft has had some time to get acquainted with Googleโ€™s guts and/or streaming capabilities. Even beyond the Assassinโ€™s Creed experiment, itโ€™s clear that the process is made pretty simple with a PC version of the game in question. Whether companies will have similar success with a console port remains to be seen.
