Everybody Shang Tsung Tonight (Everybody Have Fun Tonight)

If you don’t understand the subtitle up there, ask your parents. It’s funny, trust your ol’ pal Zane. Anyway, NetherRealm dropped a new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer yesterday. That brings the number of trailers for the game up to about… Far more than are needed, but they never fail to amaze me. This trailer shows off Shang Tsung, the first of many Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters. Speaking of which, the trailer also announces three other characters on their way, but you have to read on to learn what they are… or skip to the end. There’s nothing I can do to stop you.

Mortal Kombat 11 DLC

The Trailer opens with Shang Tsung, who is centuries old, in his old man form. But this guy has some serious demon powers. He changes into a youthful Shang Tsung to battle Raiden. Using his shape-shifting powers, throughout the fight he changes into other Mortal Kombat 11 characters such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, as well as past characters Ermac, Smoke, Rain, and Reptile. Shang Tsung’s finisher shows him utilizing the abilities of Sub-Zero to shove an icicle through Raiden’s eye. He then, transforms into Scorpion Get-over-here-ing him and then transforms into Noob Saibot before pile-driving Raiden into the ground, breaking his neck. His Fatality allows him to summon Kintaro inside of Raiden where he sprouts two arms, rips off Raiden’s own arms and replaces them with two more of Kintaro’s. Then he rips open Raiden’s chest, exposing Kintaro.

Shang Tsung is modeled after the likeness of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa who played him in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. If he was not enough for you, NetherRealm is also officially announcing Nightwolf, Sindel, and Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, as well as “2 More Guests”. These two others are likely to be either Ash from Evil Dead, Terminator, or Joker. Shang Tsung is available to players with the Kombat Pack on June 18th.
