Analyst Pegs Nintendo As 2019’s Top Software Publisher

Pokemon Games Mean Major Sales

NPD Analyst Matt Piscatella has made some post-E3 predictions about Nintendo. They reflect the dominant fan assertions that Nintendo more or less won this year’s E3 conference… competition? Like, no one’s handing out medals, but everyone gets the sense that Nintendo won. Piscatella’s estimates reinforce this idea, with Nintendo squarely in place to become 2019’s top software publisher.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

In particular, Nintendo’s “targeted blast of upcoming content” has cemented their place as the current market leader. According to Piscatella, the Switch is “the most important piece of Video Game hardware in the market” at the moment. Between Luigi’s Mansion 3, Link’s Awakening, and Pokemon Sword and Shield, Nintendo is set to utterly dominate the next year. Pisctella’s predictions are listed in detail below:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
NBA 2K20
Madden NFL 20
Borderlands 3
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
Mortal Kombat 11
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint
Death Stranding
Kingdom Hearts III
Super Mario Maker 2

I…. was honestly expecting more Nintendo titles on that list. Wouldn’t that be a major component in becoming the top software publisher? Selling the most software? It sort of seems like Activision Blizzard is going to mop the floor with Nintendo this year. Time will tell which of Matt Piscatella’s rather contradictory predictions come true for 2019.
