Like, 30th Anniversary Big
2011 brought us Sonic Generations, a fitting 20th anniversary tribute to the blue blur and all his adventures. According to Sonic Team, we’ll be seeing more of Sonic the Hedgehog in 2021. We don’t know exactly what form this will take, but perhaps it will be a 30th anniversary type thing?
A recent quote from the Sonic development studio suggests that we could be waiting a little while for more mainline Sonic the Hedgehog games. “2017 was a big year for Sonic. The next big year for Sonic is 2021,” according to a statement from Takashi Iizuka. Boy, they sure like doing things for Sonic’s anniversary milestones.
When asked if 2021 would be time for a big 30th anniversary release, Iizuka simply replied “maybe.” It’s anyone’s guess as to what we’ll get in a couple of years, but it looks like the forecast is sparse for the next little while. At least there’s Team Sonic Racing to tide us over now. Plus, we’ll be getting that Sonic movie this February! That’ll be something, right?
