Steam Version Temporarily F2P This Tuesday
Games that go free to play tend to be a little troubled, or maybe just looking for a sales spike. To that end, Street Fighter V is going free to play for two whole weeks, starting this Tuesday. While not a permanent move, it’s an interesting decision nonetheless.
This promotion is for the Steam version only, to be clear. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be free to play on Steam from April 23 to May 5. During this time, players will be able to mess around with 20 different characters in a variety of game modes. the roster will include the 16 original fighters, as well as four DLC characters:Â Akuma, Blanka, Juri and Menat.
Alright, so it’s more of a free trial than some desperate cash grab. The Steam-only caveat is rather curious, however. Does the PC represent a low point in sales for Capcom’s 2D brawler? Either way, this is a great opportunity to see what all the fuss is about, assuming you still haven’t checked out the game. The DLC fighters are only available in Ranked, Casual, Battle Lounge, Training, and Challenge modes, if that’s where your focus is. You can check out our review for Street Fighter V here.
