Street Fighter V Free To Play For Next Two Weeks

Steam Version Temporarily F2P This Tuesday

Games that go free to play tend to be a little troubled, or maybe just looking for a sales spike. To that end, Street Fighter V is going free to play for two whole weeks, starting this Tuesday. While not a permanent move, itโ€™s an interesting decision nonetheless.

This promotion is for the Steam version only, to be clear. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be free to play on Steam from April 23 to May 5. During this time, players will be able to mess around with 20 different characters in a variety of game modes. the roster will include the 16 original fighters, as well as four DLC characters: Akuma, Blanka, Juri and Menat.

Alright, so itโ€™s more of a free trial than some desperate cash grab. The Steam-only caveat is rather curious, however. Does the PC represent a low point in sales for Capcomโ€™s 2D brawler? Either way, this is a great opportunity to see what all the fuss is about, assuming you still havenโ€™t checked out the game. The DLC fighters are only available in Ranked, Casual, Battle Lounge, Training, and Challenge modes, if thatโ€™s where your focus is. You can check out our review for Street Fighter V here.
