It Will Also Feature the Candyman
No, not the Christina Aguilera song. Though that would lighten things up, it does not quite fit the theme of the game. 2016’s Layers of Fear is getting its follow-up game very soon. Though the game was essentially a walking simulator, it earned high praise for its ability to immerse the player in the horror of the game. Layers of Fear 2 appears to create a pattern in the series protagonists. As the first game features a painter, the second game will be played from the perspective of another sort of tortured artist.
A few months ago, Bloober Team gave us an official trailer with Tony Todd narrating. Tony Todd is the actor for the iconic horror character Candyman. Todd’s narrating will fully carry into Layers of Fear 2, which is releasing on May 25th. The Layers of Fear 2 Twitter account tweeted out a gif made to look like an image with some old film reel effects. It sets the release date for May 28th, 2019. As the game’s artwork suggests, the game’s setting will be a psychologically twisted version of a cruise ship, much like the Titanic. The backdrop of the image has red curtains, much like theater curtains.

The “tortured artist” in Layers of Fear 2 is an actor in the golden age of cinema. As the story in Layers of Fear 1 is not laid out in a clear way, there is no telling what the plot will be in the second game. We will just have to wait until May 28th when it releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
