Despite middling review scores and so-so shipping numbers, the developer studio behind Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Eidos Montreal, is reportedly “super happy” with how the game performed both commercially and critically.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

“We’re super happy with how [Shadow of the Tomb Raider] turned out, both on the critics side and performance,” producer Jonathan Dahan told USGamer at PAX East 2019. “That’s why we continued producing DLC, because we’re excited about how it went.”

So far, Eidos Montreal has released six post-launch DLCs that include challenge tombs, new outfits, new weapons, and new stories. The seventh and final DLC on the game’s roadmap is scheduled to launch on April 23rd.

When the topic of Tomb Raider’s future came up, Dahan said that he doubted that Shadow of the Tomb Raider would be the last game in the series.

“I’d be extremely surprise if we didn’t see more of [Tomb Raider],” Dahan reportedly said. “We’re not able to say anything about what’s happening next, but I’d be very surprised if we didn’t hear more about the franchise.”
