Bungie Will Roll Out a Fix Soon for Xbox/PC Destiny 2
After a weird issue that saw Xbox One and PC Destiny 2 players being able to purchase a PS4-exclusive weapon, Bungie has announced that a fix is on its way that will prevent those players from using it.
Xur, the mysterious travelling salesman in Destiny 2, had somehow accidentally solid the Wavesplitter exotic rifle to users on Xbox One and PC last weekend. This weapon is supposed to be exclusive to Sony’s platform.
“We’re investigating an issue where the Sony exclusive weapon Wavesplitter was made available from Xûr on Xbox and PC,” Bungie’s community manager, Cozmo, wrote on the game’s forum. “We’re currently working on a fix. In the meantime, Xbox and PC players who acquired the weapon will be able to use it. After the fix goes live, they will still have it in their inventories, but will not be able to equip it until this weapon enters the general Exotic loot pool in September 2019.”
So basically until the fix rolls out, Xbox One and PC players can play with a new toy. After the fix, they can ogle at it until it becomes available again in September.
Activision and Sony have had a marketing relationship as far back as 2014 when the first Destiny launched. If you were playing on PS4, you got access to exclusive maps, weapons, and strikes for at least a year, sometimes longer. As Kotaku points out, it’s unclear whether the practice will continue on Destiny 3 now that Bungie has broken away from Activision.
