Rocket League Crossplay Support Has Officially Arrived for All Platforms
Though Sony has previously been quite vocal about not supporting the crossplay initiative, it seems they’ve made a second concession and are finally getting on board. Last year Fornite became the first game available for crossplay support and today Psyonix took to the PlayStation Blog to announce that Rocket League has officially received crossplay support across all platforms.
In a brand new post on the PlayStation Blog, Jeremy Dunham, Psyonix Vice President of Marketing announced that the crossplay feature is now enabled in-game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC and that starting today, all can finally play together. At this time however, Rocket League does not support cross-platform party matchmaking, though this is a feature that is planned to release early 2019. Right now private matches support cross-platform play, so players can still hop onto the game to challenge their friends to some head to head matches.
In the announcement, Psyonix explained how to enable the crossplay feature. “To make sure that Cross-Platform play is enabled (it is by default), head to the ‘Main Menu,’ select ‘Options’ and then make sure the ‘Cross-Platform Play’ box is checked in the ‘Gameplay’ tab. And that’s all there is to it. You are now ready to play against gamers on other platforms across the world!”
In addition to the simple instructions, Psyonix also wanted to thank their fans who helped make this all possible. “Today’s announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix, because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time. It’s because of YOU, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place. On behalf of the entire team, THANK YOU for your passion and persistence as we continue to do our best to make Rocket League the best experience we can.”
