The Next-Gen Xbox Console Might Be Only Two Years Away from Launch
The next-gen Xbox might launch during the holidays in 2020 and it’ll have its own version of the Xbox One S and Xbox One X, according to a recent report from Windows Central.
The codename for the next S console is reportedly “Lockhart” while the codename for the X console successor is “Anaconda”.
“The next-gen Lockhart console will be the affordable SKU, providing the next-gen Xbox experience in a package potentially around as powerful as the current Xbox One X hardware wise, with refinements under the hood,” their report read. “The Anaconda console will be more powerful and more expensive, providing a cutting-edge console gaming experience. We’ve also heard Microsoft is exploring technology to dramatically reduce loading times, potentially including SSD storage in the package.”
The report also notes that Microsoft is “aiming for a 2020 holiday debut” for the next Xbox console.
With the PlayStation 5 also possibly launching in the 2020s, it looks like 2019 is shaping up to be the last big year for current-gen consoles.
