Rockstar Games’ ‘Agent’ Trademark Abandoned

Remember, Agent?

The U.S. trademark for the planned Rockstar North title Agent has been recently abandoned, according to its webpage on the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website.

Agent

The trademark was abandoned “because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued”. The Agent trademark was abandoned earlier this week on Monday, according to its USPTO webpage.

Agent was supposed to be a Cold War-era spy game about espionage and was being developed exclusively for the PS3 by Rockstar North. The game was officially revealed at E3 2009 and given a release date in 2010. Obviously, 2010 came and went but the game still hadn’t come out. In 2011, Take-Two Interactive confirmed in a fiscal earnings call that Agent was still in development.

Last year, we reported on allegedly leaked Agent concept art that depicted some snowy environments.

Despite all this time having passed, neither Rockstar or Take-Two have outright confirmed that the game has been cancelled even though its been more than nine years since the game was officially announced.

Now, this trademark being recently abandoned could mean that a cancellation announcement is imminent or it could mean that this project is being re-branded under a new title. We’ll just have to wait for Rockstar & Take-Two to announce their next decision for this game.
