Red Dead Online Is Planned to Have a Beta
At least a few players (approximately 0.01% on Xbox One as of writing) have reportedly already made it past the intro of Red Dead Online, which is the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2.
These players are possibly playtesters for the mode’s upcoming beta. As for when this beta will launch, well it should be noted that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an earnings call earlier this month that the beta will start “towards the end” of November.
We’re currently in the last week of November so it is possible that the beta could start sometime this week but this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
Details about Red Dead Online have been scarce so far but Rockstar North’s Director of Design, Imran Sarwar, has said that the mode will share mechanics with the singleplayer mode and be set in the same game world.
“Players will be able explore alone or easily join with friends or other players to compete or work together,” Sarwar also said. “We’ll take full advantage of the entire world, as well as all the aspects of a 19th century setting that make Red Dead Redemption 2 unique and fun.”
