Version 3.5.0 Will Also Be On PS4
If Blizzard and their wily ways have left a bad taste in your mouth, perhaps Path of Exile will suit you better? The newest version of the enormous Free to Play ARPG is coming to the PS4 on December 7th, 2018. There’s a release trailer embedded below!
Path of Exile built a dedicated following by only charging for cosmetic upgrades and other non-essential items. The company has pledged that the game will never go pay-to-win, in case you were worried about that Free to Play thing I mentioned earlier. As someone who dumped a fair number of hours in this game on PC, I can attest to GGG’s dedication to the craft. This game is huge!
Essentially, PoE is for anyone who thought Diablo 3 was too nice and accommodating and easy. There are colossal skill trees, tons of customization options, and generally no backsies when it comes to skill selection. This leads to a fairly punishing endgame, but lots of people are super into that sort of thing. There’s also no gold, with all your trading and upgrading relying on a complex barter system. If you’re starving for a dense, massive ARPG with a portrait of Diablo 2 on its bedside table, you’d best keep an eye out for Path of Exile on the PSN next month.
