He’s Not Holding Gwent Cards
In a perfect Halloween occasion, we get to see the Man of Steel play dress-up. This time, however, he’s also bringing silver. Netflix just tweeted our first look at actor Henry Cavill as the Witcher Geralt from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, and he looks serious.
Ever since showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich announced that Cavill would take on the lead role, I think we’ve all been curious about how he might fit the Witcher profile. Our favorite albino-monster hunter with a monotonous tone would be a tough act to follow if we account for the iteration in CD Projekt RED’s games. But the show isn’t about the games; it’s about the book. Now, let’s take a look at our new Geralt.

Of course, everyone’s going to have their two cents on which actor should have filled the role. In this particular shot, Geralt looks younger than some of us are used to—and probably than many of us imagined. The question left to ask is, can he act?
I’m won’t neglect to mention that many fans had their hearts set on Mads Mikkelsen. The Danish actor definitely could have fit the profile of a rugged, old, and gritty Geralt that many Witcher stories have painted.
It’s surely a mistake, since this is – no doubt! – a lovely, old Legolas. When can we expect the Witcher? pic.twitter.com/hj0BxRHnXX
