A Canadian Company Has Made a VR-Style Headset for the Nintendo Switch

Pre-orders for ‘NS Glasses’ (Nintendo Switch Glasses) Starting Soon

While a true and dedicated VR headset for the Nintendo Switch may be a long ways off, that hasn’t stopped some people from taking a stab at it. In the case of Canadian company exklim, they may have just created the next best thing.

Nintendo Switch NS Glasses Headset

It’s called ‘NS Glasses,’ and as you can make from the photos, it looks a lot like other virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. It’s being described as the “world’s first headset for Switch” and it will let you “immerse yourself into the world of Passive 3D.” To clarify, this isn’t VR but a cool way to experience a 3D effect on all of your Nintendo Switch games.

According to exklim, the Switch sits securely at the front of the unit which has been smartly designed so the holes for the console’s fans are still able to work. The unit has an adjustable headband and a comfortable face pad so it shouldn’t feel too strained on your face. Your Joy-Cons can also easily be attached for charging while you play with other Joy-Cons or the Pro Controller. Most importantly though, the NS glasses will work with every single Switch game currently on the market.

While this might sound like a dream come true, it’s important to remember that the NS Glasses isn’t a true VR headset at all. It gives off a Passive 3D experience by using “colour switching technology” which makes a convincing 3D effect. It will also smooth out the pixel count on Switch games to make them look like they are in higher resolution. We’re not exactly sure how that works considering the Switch screen is still 720p.

This definitely is an interesting concept but we’re a little sceptical about how it all works. Either way, if you’re interested, you can sign-up for more information on the NS Glasses and receive 50% off the price ($50 USD). Pre-orders are set to start soon.
