Catfish and Paranormal Activity 3 Directors Will Helm Mega Man Movie
Capcom has announced that they will adapt their classic Mega Man video game series into a live-action Hollywood film.
Details about the movie are sparse but we do have a few details to share. The movie is tentatively being called MEGA MAN (yes, with all caps) and it is being written and directed by both Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman for 20th Century Fox. Joost and Schulman are better known for their directing work on 2010’s Catfish and 2011’s Paranormal Activity 3. No release date has been given as of yet, but we’re pretty positive this project is still a long ways away.
According to the press release, Capcom is hoping the movie will “appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.”
Capcom just released the 11th iteration in the series on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and the Nintendo Switch. Make sure you check out our glowing review. Below is a snippet of what our reviewer thought:
“Mega Man 11 brings the series to new heights. Every element of the game is glistening with polish. Yet, the core Mega Man formula remains largely unchanged. If you’re coming to this game looking for massive, sweeping shifts to the Blue Bomber’s oeuvre, you may come away disappointed.”
