The Cadillac of Retro Consoles
Analogue takes the game consoles of your childhood and classes them up a notch or two. Perhaps you remember the Super NT? Well, this time they’re souping up the Sega Genesis with the Mega Sg Sega console. It’ll be compatible with Genesis, Master System and Mega Drive cartridges. It even connects to the Sega CD and the Mega CD!
These consoles aren’t exactly cheap, but they make up for it with the quality of their components. Admittedly I don’t fully understand how it all works, but hot damn do these machines look slick. Like the original Sega Genesis hit the gym and started going to a different stylist.
Pre-orders are open now, with the consoles expected to ship sometime in April 2019. They’ll set you back around 190 USD, but all indications suggest the price tag is worth it. You’ll be able to use the original controllers with the Mega Sg, or you can grab one of the wireless models being made by 8BitDo. The system comes in four different colors and I don’t need it at all, but I do want it.
