The Upcoming Classic Console Costs $99.99
Last week, Sony officially unveiled the PlayStation Classic, a mini-PS1 that’ll launch with 20 pre-loaded classic games this December. Unfortunately, those games will be the only ones that it’ll ever have, according to a PlayStation spokesperson.
“There are no plans to bring new content to PlayStation Classic post-launch,” the spokesperson told IGN. They also confirmed that there won’t be any PSN and trophy support for the games that’ll be featured on the miniaturized console.
So far, there are only five games that have been confirmed to be on PlayStation Classic: Final Fantasy VII, Wild Arms, Tekken 3, Jumping Flash, and Ridge Racer Type 4. The other 15 titles will be revealed later this year, according to Sony.
The spokesperson also told IGN about the process Sony went through when it came to choosing which classic games to include on the mini-PS1.
“The 20 titles launching with the PlayStation Classic were selected due to their popularity amongst original PlayStation fans,” the spokesperson explained. “However, it is important to note that the title list is tailored to each region.”
