Tall Tales and Taller Mugs
Last time we heard about Kingmaker it was to find a surprisingly soon release date. Now we’re getting a better look at some of the stories to be lived through. The most recent Kingmaker trailer finds the cast swapping stories in a quiet tavern.
Whereas my enthusiasm for this game was already at a pretty steady boil, now I’m getting downright impatient. Every tale reveals a wealth of possible outcomes, some of which involve zero combat. I’m entranced by the prospect of nonviolent solutions to Pathfinder encounters, mostly because they tend to be funnier. Anyone can kill an ogre. You befriend that beast and you’ve got a massive, shambling nexus point of chaos to direct wherever you’ve a mind to.
In addition to the various encounters, the trailer also shows off some of the race/class combinations you’ll be working with. It looks like each member of the playable cast will be named and voiced, though this might be just for trailer purposes. Character creation and min/maxing is half the fun, after all. We’re still light on details about the kingdom building element of the game, but thankfully the release date isn’t too far off. Pathfinder: Kingmaker is set for release on PC on September 25th, 2018.
