Adam Driver Stars in Ridiculous Fortnite Parody Skit for SNL

And He’s a Complete Noob

Fortnite has practically consumed the world, obvious from its prevalence in mainstream and social media. Its popularity convinced PlayStation publisher Sony to enable cross-play. Now, the game is on SNL.

Fortnite Battle Royale

SNL did not feature the actual game in their latest skit, but they did create a parody. That parody stars none other than Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren in Star War: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Driver plays the skit alongside  Pete Davidson and Kyle Mooney, both of whom attempt to portray online gamers. Of course, it’s more of a sanitized portrait of reality. Anyway, Driver plays a comical, cliche dad attempting to learn about the game in order to connect with his son. The problem, of course, is that he is utterly terrible and needs to git gud.

Instead of a skit with the three actors playing the game, we see a skit within a skit when additional actors mimic in-game Fortnite characters. Hilarity ensues, and we see a reference to many aspects of gameplay, including treasure chests and the dancing epidemic. Mooney and Davidson attempt to achieve that Victory Royale but, but they get shot to pieces while Driver orients himself to the basic functions of a controller. This is usually the point where online players throw nasty remarks at the newbies, but SNL kept it classy.

Driver’s presence on SNL might have convinced people there would be a Star Wars skit on there, somewhere. That wasn’t the case, and the show left viewers with a hard-hitting reminder that more people are talking about Fortnite: Battle Royale than blockbuster movies. Maybe. If you’d like to sit through the entire Saturday Night Live episode, look no farther than this link.

Fortnite is available now on just about every platform that offers games. Any thoughts on the SNL skit? Let us know in the comments below.
