The Divisive Reboot Couldโve Had a Sequel Made by Devil May Cry 5โs Director
The director of Devil May Cry 5 said recently that he initially wanted to make a sequel to the divisive 2013 reboot but since several members of his team werenโt involved in the rebootโs development, they ultimately decided to create a fifth Devil May Cry game instead.
โI really wanted to make a DmC: Devil May Cry 2, after the first one,โ director Hideaki Itsuno told VG247 during this yearโs Tokyo Game Show. โI was really pumped up to do it, and then that didnโt happen. Soโฆ when it came time to make a new game, we said, alright, letโs make Devil May Cry 5.โ
โWe had these people that didnโt work on DmC and people that did,โ Itsuno also said. โBecause we had these two sides mixing, it was like alright, weโre going to make Devil May Cry 5 โ itโs not going to be a sequel to DmC, but we definitely want to do what we can to take what we learned from that game too.โ
Itsuno added that if the reboot were to get a sequel then it would be a project that โNinja Theory should collaborate with Capcom onโ.
It should be noted that Ninja Theory were the developers of the 2013 reboot game.
Other Devil May Cry 5 news: itโll have co-op but Itsunoโs being tight-lipped about the details.
