Shadow of the Tomb Raider Has Tons of Difficulty Options for Puzzles, Exploring & Combat

You Can Play Shadow of the Tomb Raider In Your Own Way

A recent Shadow of the Tomb Raider blog post detailed the many different options that players will get to choose from when it comes to the difficulty of solving puzzles, exploring and fighting enemies.

The official blog post also has info on the several accessibility options that the upcoming Tomb Raider will have such as an option that allows you to hold down buttons during QTEs instead of having to repeatedly tap them or reducing how much the in-game camera shakes.

According to the post, there are four unique difficulty options for combat, puzzles & exploration: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Deadly Obsession. Notably, if the Deadly Obsession difficulty option is picked then it can’t be switched to another difficulty once the playthrough starts and its applied to all these aspects of the game, per the blog post.

These difficulty options will mostly allow players to set the difficulty for all three of these parts of the game individually.

One of the ways the harder unique difficulties (e.g. Normal & Hard) can affect gameplay is how they change the white paint signposting on climbable ledges. For example, if the exploration difficulty is set to Hard mode then that white paint disappears completely.

There still isn’t much info about the “overall difficulty” modes but presumably they’ll be of the Easy, Normal, Hard variety.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set to launch on September 14th for the PC, Xbox One, & PS4.
