H1Z1: Battle Royale Officially Launches in Early August on PS4
It’s been just over two months since the open beta for H1Z1: Battle Royale launched on the PS4 and in this short period of time it has seen some massive success, with more than 10 million players jumping into the action by the end of June. Now it seems Daybreak Games is ready to make the popular title even bigger, announcing it’s official launch date for early next month.
While it’s already fantastic news that H1Z1: Battle Royale is leaving its open beta to make its official launch on August 7th, the games producer, Terrence Yee, took to the PlayStation Blog to announce the game will be getting a ton of new stuff. This includes new weapons, a new vehicle, and a few different improvements. In addition, the game will be available for purchase with two sweet launch bundles to let players customize their characters before jumping into the action. Oh, and did we forget to mention Season 1 Battle Pass will also be unlocked?
Here’s what Yee had to say about all of these new goodies. “We’re excited to bring two new weapons to H1Z1: the explosive RPG and deadly SOCOM semi-automatic sniper rifle. The RPG has particular utility against vehicles, while the SOCOM slots in between the Scout Rifle and M40 Sniper Rifle (now a one-shot kill to the head, even with a helmet) to add another tactical layer to long-range gunfights. These two new weapons fulfill specific combat roles our community has been asking for, and we can’t wait for players to get their hands on them.” He also talked about the new vehicle, “Also shaking up gameplay is a new vehicle: the ARV. This powerful personnel carrier fits a whole fives squad, and includes a hatch for your best marksman to pop out the top.”
So what about the Battle Pass Season 1? It will be available on August 7th when H1Z1 blasts out of the beta and it will have three reward lines: free, premium, and PS Plus for 30 reward tiers. According to Yee, “Players can unlock tiers by earning XP through gameplay or through in-game purchases. Battle Pass Season 1 premium line will be $5.49, and all PS Plus members will receive the PS Plus line for free!”
