Todd Howard Has Dropped the Bomb yet Again
Thus far, Bethesda and Todd Howard have proven adept at teasing some meaty gameplay for Fallout 76. At long last, here’s our look at gameplay, straight out of Bethesdas E3 presser.
The newest footage kicks off from the perspective of a vault-dweller from Vault 76. Presumably, this is the very beginning of the game. Very quickly, we dive into the landscape of West Virginia, where a host of new irradiated monsters have spawned (some of which are inspired by Virginia folklore). Confirmed, there will be a total of six regions for players to explore, and yes, players plural. According to Todd Howard, the game will be fully played online. Nevertheless, Howard added that players will be able to experience the game solo (which doesn’t mean offline, mind you).
Todd elaborated a bit more on the multiplayer aspect of Fallout 76. Specifically, he mentioned that there will be dozens of players playing at any one time. Every step of the way, no matter who you decided to play with—whether or not you die or join another player’s session—progression will always carry over and is tethered to no server. Essentially, the experience is much like Fallout 4, only with the ability to play alongside others. This is the same engine as its predecessor but with better rendering. However, there’s an additional surprise, and the surprise is that nuclear silos will litter the wasteland. As the director of Fallout will attest, players can do whatever the hell they want with these silos.
Fallout 76 will witness a Beta later this year, which means you can get your hands on the game early and experience all the bugs you’re expecting. Then, you can play it all when it finally arrive on November 14th, 2018. That’s right, the game is coming out this year, so now’s the time to mark your calendar. Furthermore, there will be a special Fallout 76: Power Armor Edition that comes with a map that “glows in the fucken dark.”
Happy gaming.
