Shut Up And Take My Money
Apparently it’s Pokemon news day today! Those two Pokemon games everyone was pretty sure were real totally are, and holy cow the fandom is cleaved in two over this. Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu! are coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 16th, 2018. They appear to be just loaded to the hilt with features that fans are excited/horrified over. Seriously, after reading this, scroll through the comments on that Twitter post. Just incredible.
From what I can tell watching the trailer, you use one Joy-Con to control the game. The motion controls can be used for stuff like catching Pokemon. A second person can join in using the other Joy-Con. There’s a lot of connectivity being advertised between this and Pokemon GO. There’s going to be a peripheral sold in the form of an actual Pokeball. Oh and you can also interact with the title Pokemon (Pikachu or Eevee) in a bunch of different ways, including custom outfits.
There’s a lot to unpack here. This looks like a new, sexier version of the original games. If two people can play at once, how do the separate save files travel from game to game? Does that Pokeball work in the real world through Pokemon GO? Since GO has been slowly introducing Pokemon from the second and third generations of games, does that mean we can expect more games done up like this if this first set do well enough in terms of sales? If I push my money in a huge ball against my monitor really hard, do you think I can get the games sooner?
