The Most Recent Trailer for 2018’s Most Anticipated Game Is Finally Here!
The new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 has just been released and you can view it below!
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world Western game about a gang of criminals led by a man named Dutch van der Linde.
Some details from the trailer: the game seems to take place in 1899 which means that it takes place around the same era of the West that the first Red Dead Redemption took place in, players might be able to go to theater shows and there are going to be robbery missions.
The most notable detail of the trailer (at the 1:41 mark) is a character that appears to be a young John Marston. Marston was the protagonist of the first Red Dead Redemption.
If Red Dead Redemption 2 does indeed take place in 1899 and focuses exclusively on Dutch’s gang then a younger Marston could possibly be involved in the game’s story or side missions.
Marston was born in 1873 which would make him 25 or 26 years old in 1899. It was implied in the first Redemption game that Marston had joined Dutch’s gang in his teenage years. Notably, Marston didn’t leave the gang until he was abandoned by them after a failed boat robbery in 1906.
By 1911, he was a reformed criminal who became a rancher, had a family, and apparently no longer wanted anything to do with Dutch and his gang.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is about a Dutch’s gang of thieves and their exploits. The protagonist of the game is a gang member named Arthur Morgan.
An official press release further explains the game’s premise:
“After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”
