People Can Fly, developer of Painkiller, Bulletstorm, and Gears of War: Judgement, have announced that theyโre working on a new โAAA shooterโ with Square Enix.
This announcement came as somewhat of a footnote in the studioโs latest update regarding expansion of its development teams. People Can Fly announced that theyโve opened two new locations in Rzeszow, Poland, and Newcastle, United Kingdom, where former Ubisoft developers and staff are โbringing a wealth of knowledge to the studio.โ The Rzeszow location is allegedly host to โaround 30โ developers who have contributed to the popular โSniper: Ghost Warriorโ franchise.
At the end of the update, before a career-focused call to action, People Can Fly confirms that all three of their studios are currently hard at work on a new shooter IP โalongsideโ Square Enix. Whether that means Square is providing in house development assistance, or simply watching carefully over the developerโs work is yet to be seen.
This news comes one week after Square Enix announced their first dedicated E3 video presentation showcase in three years. Weโll likely get an official announcement and more information on the title then.
People Can Fly was picked up by Epic shortly after the release of Bulletstorm back in 2012, a game my innocent Grandmother called โvery creative.โ I mean, sheโs not wrong. The developer decided to fly solo in 2015 and dropped a remaster of Bulletstorm last year, but we havenโt heard anything about a new project since itโs original release.
