People Can Fly, developer of Painkiller, Bulletstorm, and Gears of War: Judgement, have announced that theyโ€™re working on a new โ€œAAA shooterโ€ with Square Enix.

Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition HERO

This announcement came as somewhat of a footnote in the studioโ€™s latest update regarding expansion of its development teams. People Can Fly announced that theyโ€™ve opened two new locations in Rzeszow, Poland, and Newcastle, United Kingdom, where former Ubisoft developers and staff are โ€œbringing a wealth of knowledge to the studio.โ€ The Rzeszow location is allegedly host to โ€œaround 30โ€ developers who have contributed to the popular โ€œSniper: Ghost Warriorโ€ franchise.

At the end of the update, before a career-focused call to action, People Can Fly confirms that all three of their studios are currently hard at work on a new shooter IP โ€œalongsideโ€ Square Enix. Whether that means Square is providing in house development assistance, or simply watching carefully over the developerโ€™s work is yet to be seen.

This news comes one week after Square Enix announced their first dedicated E3 video presentation showcase in three years. Weโ€™ll likely get an official announcement and more information on the title then.

People Can Fly was picked up by Epic shortly after the release of Bulletstorm back in 2012, a game my innocent Grandmother called โ€œvery creative.โ€ I mean, sheโ€™s not wrong. The developer decided to fly solo in 2015 and dropped a remaster of Bulletstorm last year, but we havenโ€™t heard anything about a new project since itโ€™s original release.
