The First Game Could Possibly Be Getting a Remaster or a Re-Release
A current-gen GOTY edition of the first Borderlands game was recently spotted on the official website of the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC).
Unfortunately, the official link currently isn’t working so we can’t find out anymore details about it aside from it possibly coming to the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
It should be noted that both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel were remastered for the Xbox One and PS4 back in 2015 as part of the massive Borderlands: Handsome Collection. Basically, a current-gen remaster of the first game isn’t something that is highly unlikely to happen.
However, the PC version of Borderlands: Game of the Year already exists and was released back in 2010. Despite that, it’s still possible that this rumored remaster could be happening (similar to how Bethesda released the remastered GOTY edition of Skyrim for PC in 2016 despite there already being a previous GOTY edition that existed).
Also, this isn’t the first time that the GRAC appeared to have leaked the existence of an unannounced game. Last week, the PC version of Sunset Overdrive was also spotted on their official website.
Of course, this is all currently unconfirmed so we won’t know for sure if this current-gen remaster or re-release is happening or not until series developer Gearbox outright says so.
