Leaked via Keyring of all things
2017 came with leak after leak after leak, leading up to Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ reveal at UbiE3 2017. The last nail in the confirmation was nothing more than a T-shirt bearing the character we now know as Bayek. We seem to be in the midst of a similar situation today—only instead of a shirt, we got a keyring.
Yep, a keyring. According to this little piece of merchandise, that would look good dangling from your keychain, Ubisoft’s next major franchise installment is called Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. A photo was taken by French website Jeuxvideo, and it seems that this game will take place in Ancient Greece, as evidenced by the dangling Greek helmet.
However, at the time of this writing, there’s nothing else to go on. Before today, the general assumption was that Ubisoft would release Assassin’s Creed games biennially. The success of Origins would also explain why there’s been no discourse over a sequel, leading up to E3 2018. No one expects two games to release back-to-back. That said, there’s a chance that the French company will resort to nothing more than an announcement for an installment that will release in 2019.
Website Eurogamer reached out for comment on the keyring, but at the time of this writing, Ubisoft has not responded. Stay tuned for more concrete information coming out of the UbiE3 press conference. But before you go, feel free to comment your thoughts. What do you think the keyring is for? Do you believe the next game will be called Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?
