Thar She Blows! Free ‘Sea of Thieves’ Updates Planned for Later This Year

The Updates Will Add “Major New Features” to the Game

The developers behind Sea of Thieves, the open-world pirate game, have quite a few big updates planned for the game later this year. Rare released a nearly 14-minute video that detailed their plans and you can watch it below!

All this new content will be available to all players for free: “As we’ve always said, we never wanted to do anything to separate our players, so we’re pleased to confirm that all content updates will be available to all our players, at no additional cost,” explained a recent news post on the game’s official website.

“It’s been just over three weeks since we launched Sea of Thieves, and a lot has happened since then!” wrote the game’s Executive Producer, Joe Neate, in the news post. “We’ve been listening to you all, and we know you are keen to hear how we plan to grow Sea of Thieves. As we’ve always said, launch is just the start, and we are going to grow and evolve the game with feedback from our community.”

Rare first plans on releasing their first major update for the game, titled “The Hungering Deep”, in May. The update will add a new enemy to the game which players will have to work together in order to defeat. The update will also add new mechanics and there’ll be a reward for players who take part in the event.

During the summer, Rare plans on releasing two content updates titled “Cursed Sails” and “Forsaken Shores”. The two updates will also add new gameplay mechanics, new enemies for players to battle, new rewards and, in “Forsaken Shores”, there will be a new part of the world for players to explore.
