Comic Chronicles the Origin of Blackwatch
Unlike many of its peers, what sets Overwatch apart in the Moba scene is its scoring Mythos. Whether by trailers, comics, or gameplay itself, there’s always an interesting backstory to the ever-expanding character roster. In continuation of this trend, Blizzard has delivered a new comic that dives into the dark side of the organization.
Titled Retribution, the new Overwatch comic pertains to Blackwatch, the covert extension of the international organization. We’ve glimpsed this organization, thanks to last year’s reveal of new skins for McCree, Genji, and Reaper. If the new story is any indication, there will be a fourth addition to this group. Though it’s by no means a groundbreaking revelation, Moira is the fourth character in Blackwatch. It can’t be a coincidence that this comic came a week before April 10th, when the next in-game event is set to commence. Called Overwatch Archives, more about the new event will be revealed during tonight’s Overwatch League broadcast. Right now, we simply know that there will be new loot box cosmetics.
RETRIBUTION: When Overwatch’s hands are tied, Blackwatch moves through the shadows to deliver retribution.

As for the new comic, it deals with the troubled past of Gabriel Reyes, aka Reaper, during his time with Overwatch. Specifically, the plot details the origin of Blackwatch as a result of his need to combat terrorism without legal limitations. If that sounds interesting to you, give the comic a look here. It’s free. And keep it locked for more updates on the multiplayer game as time goes by.
Happy gaming.
