No ‘Games As A Service’ Nonsense Here
Anthem has had some people worried. Bioware had a pretty terrific track record right up until Mass Effect: Andromeda, which was… somewhat problematic. Enough so that people are worried about whether Anthem will have any of the same problems. Well, Bioware’s boss posted a dev blog update today that looked to address some of these fears.
Casey Hudson, the boss in question, spoke about several issues fans have brought up since the game was announced. For starters, will we get a story-focused product with Anthem, or will this be another ‘games as a service’ title? According to Hudson, “we must stay focused on the importance of the world, character, and storytelling elements that players expect from our games.” The question is directly related to Andromeda missing out on some pretty important story DLC. As a result, there were some loose ends that never got tied up.
Hudson stated that this problem “was as frustrating for us as it was for players.” To that end, it looks like Anthem won’t be repeating this same issue. When the time comes, the team will make sure that this kind of important story DLC makes its way to the players. Anthem is due for release sometime in 2019. Hopefully we get a product as story-focused as the team has promised us so far.
